Hi there, remember me? No big promises, just dipping my toes back in the proverbial water. Hopefully there are still a few of you out there waiting for an eensie to hit your inbox?
To catch you up, I've had my hands quite full for the last year (seriously, how did that happen so quickly?) getting to know my little monkey AND keeping up with the bean who is now 3 and 3/4s going on 16.
So pink is the new "lellow" and princesses have taken over completely. School is closed for the day and we've got a baby brother who still needs a morning nap. What to do? On the weekends we usually bake while baby bro is snoozing, but my waistline just can't deal with anymore brownies. However, cooking always seems to make the morning just fly by. Hmmm... We could make playdough? But that ole standby seems to have waned interest with the bean, in favor of hours and hours AND HOURS of drawing and cutting. Are we alone here?
Enter pink.
It's amazing the power this color holds. Turn something "pinkalicious" as we say around here and the ordinary suddenly becomes magical. So pinkalicious playdough it is.
"Princess playdough?" the bean enthusiastically whispers in the voice she reserves only for the most amazing, exciting, over-the-top life plans. You bet your magic wand sister. And there it is, playdough is back! Thanks pink.
For those of you not in the think of pink, why not whip up some dragon dough (green)? Or add a sprinkling of glitter to any shade you've got and voila- fairy dough!
Say, what have you done to zhuj something (that's lost it's lustre) back up for your kiddos? Please share!
*FYI, today we halved our usual recipe, which yielded a much more manageable amount. Makes sense as my original recipe is intended for the classroom.

YAY! You might be dipping your toes in the water but, if you ask me, you jumped right in. Brilliant post!
There was a time, a while back now, that my Hungry Boy was super into drawing and stickers. His interested totally waned until school started this year. He's into his arts and crafts again, but only in the classroom. Hm. Why not at home? Then, the other day I asked him what his favorite this is about school and he answered (I'm not kidding--this is an exact quote), "The materials."
I got the idea of creating a workshop space from some super brilliant mom I know in the 'hood and the Hungry Boy's answer about materials was just what I needed to finally set on up for him. Now that he has a space where he can manage, on his own, crayons, markers, scissors, feathers, glue, etc. he's super into arts and crafts again... even at home.
Thanks for posting. Can't wait to see more, whenever you can manage it.
what did you use to get that nice pink color??
Welcome back :-) I love the idea of princess pink play dough!
I love it!
Welcome back!
What a treat to find this in my box this am!
I have little ones the same age as you. We just added a book light to my sons wooden train engine to make life more interesting. Now that it gets dark earlier it's a perfect night train while I'm making dinner!
Thanks for the lovin' ladies! Feels really good to know i'm not the only one missing eensies :)
@OneHungryMama I can't wait to check out the Hungry Boy's workshop! I promise to post all about the bean's workshop soon.
Hi Bevin!!! We used good ole red food coloring. Just add one drop at a time and stir it in to encorporate, then add more till u reach desired shade. I think it took us 3 drops total.
@Abarlow7 I LOOOOOOVE the night train idea! And now that song will be stuck in my head all morning (at least it's a good one).
Welcome Back!
As the mother of a 5 year old girl I would say glitter does what pink used to do. We do a lot of painting and then I have some old salt shaker that have glitter and a plastic bin. She puts the wet painting in the pin and then shakes away. It's better if it can be outside because the glitter gets EVERYWHERE!
