If your kiddo has ever looked at their toys and said she “has nothing to play with!” it's time to look at their old stuff in a new way.
You can create toys based on what your child is interested in. All you need is:
- paper
- coloring tools (crayons, markers or pencils)
- tape
- scissors
- small wooden blocks or towers made of legos
Then, have your little decide what theme they would like to focus on, for example: transportation, the zoo, a city, etc. The kids in my class have used themes that we are studying such as farmers markets or our neighborhood. Next, decide on what pieces they would like to have and draw small pictures of those people/animal/objects. Once they are drawn, they can cut them out, put tape on the back and attach it to a wooden block.
Your child can create a whole scene for imaginary play without stepping near the toy store. What fun!
