Everybody Helps

Preparing for a big Thanksgiving feast can be hectic! You have plenty to get done and your little wants to help out. Before you tell her to go watch a video while you get things in order, think about ways that she can be helpful and do some meaningful activities.

  • Help write the shopping list (or draw pictures to go with your words)
  • Write the guest list
  • Write place cards for the table
  • Calculate how many of each utensil, plate and glass will be needed for the table
  • Write welcome notes to guests
  • Read the ingredient list to you while prepare to cook
  • Help with the cooking/baking
  • Make napkin rings out of arts and crafts materials
  • Play “waitress” and hand out Hors D'oeuvres
  • Make tags for guests’ coats
  • Write a menu for guests to read
  • Read a thanksgiving poem to guests

The list could go on and on. We’d love to hear what your kiddo does to help you prepare for Thanksgiving.

Great list of ideas - I love having the kids help out! :) My girls like making a big welcome sign for the front door and creating centerpieces with nature treasures they collect.

Love this Brett! My little bean will be in the kitchen with grandma cooking away and little baby J will be our welcoming committee!
