It's a wrap!

Everyone was really inspired by Brett's organizational tips last week on what to do with the onslaught of artwork your child has started bringing home. We even got some great additional suggestions from some of our faithful readers. So... i have to add my two cents for what it's worth. Okay, but first we all have to agree that not every piece of work that comes home is a masterpiece that you want hanging on your wall (it's okay, your secret is safe with me). And you don't have room to save EVERY one, right? I mean what if you have one of those kids who cranks out like 10 pieces of artwork a day at choice time? So here are a few suggestions for those pieces that come home, but can't stay home.

My fave is to use them as wrapping paper. You can even tape a few together to wrap a bigger item. And with this tip, not only are you sharing your loves work with friends and family, you're also doing your part for mother earth!

Along the same line, why not fold it in half and make some simple notecards? Next time you're jotting a note to teacher, you wont have to ravage the house looking for a scrap of paper. Bundle up a few and send em to grandma, she'll kvell!

And don't stop there, you can laminate a painting or two and make placemats! These are great stocking stuffers guys.

What's that they say, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE!

What fantastic ideas, I love them. I have a HUGE storage tub just full of art work from my daughters pre-school days, she is 13 now and cranks out about 15 sketches a day(wants to be an animation artist), and will not hear of ANYTHING being thrown out. Going through all her baby stuff could actually be a fun activity and we could jazz them up for Christmas wrapping even more with a bit of glitter.

Here's another idea, make them into a huge collage and then wrap the edges over a huge canvas, stapling to secure and then you will have one big artwork. That was what I was planning to do anyway. I've been planning it for 13 years! lol.
